Gerald Hines ’46 Memorial Plaque

The undergraduates and House Corporation on behalf of all our alumni brothers honored Gerald Hines ’46, who entered Chapter Eternal on August 23 at the age of 95, with a memorial plaque placed at the entrance to the Dining Room which bears his name.

Significant Sig Gerald D. Hines ’46 was one of Delta Delta’s most supportive benefactors.  His financial support of both the 1988 and 2007 renovation campaigns led to major upgrades to the chapter house. This helped perpetuate Delta Delta’s long-standing legacy at Purdue.

Memorial Plaque Recognizes Accomplishments

The memorial plaque is mounted at the entrance to the Dining Room and reads:

One of Delta Delta’s most loyal supporters, Brother Hines was a major contributor to the 1988 and 2007 Chapter House renovation campaigns.

Gerald Hines ’46 was recognized as a Significant Sig in 1979 and was inducted into the Sigma Chi Hall of Fame in 2005. An acknowledged visionary developer, Brother Hines was founder and chairman of Hines, a global real estate development company. Under his direction Hines completed 907 projects, including more than 100 buildings over 25 stories tall.

Forever Grateful
