Frank Speek (Delta Delta '15)
Frank Speek ’15 is our 2012-2013 distinguished undergraduate. Since arriving at Purdue, Frank has demonstrated his admirable qualities, not only in the classroom, but also at Delta Delta, on campus and outside Purdue.
Interest In Public Service
Last summer Frank worked for Westfield (IN) Mayor Andy Cook and gained a better understanding of how local government operates. Getting the opportunity to meet and work with Department heads, Directors, and City Councilman, Frank’s passion for public service grew.
Frank is working this semester as a full time intern in the Indiana General Assembly under Senator Brandt Hershman (Majority Floor Leader) of the Indiana State Senate in Indianapolis. A position mainly held by recent graduates or law students, Frank was the only sophomore selected to serve in the Indiana State Senate for the class of 2013 and was also the first sophomore at Purdue University to be admitted into the program.
Hansard Scholar Recipient
Frank was recently selected as a Hansard Scholar. To attain this honor, Frank was subject to a rigorous application process amongst many other Purdue students. This scholarship will allow Frank to spend this summer in London, England working under a Lord in Parliament while taking international relations courses from a Harvard University Professor.
Active Involvement at Purdue
Frank is double majoring in Political Science and History with honors and is currently on the Dean’s List with a 3.7 GPA. He has been involved with College Mentors for Kids, Mortar Board, Young Life, and Greek Leadership Conference and was elected the Alumni Relations chair and serves on the Judicial Board within our chapter.
Frank is currently running for a seat on the Purdue Board of Trustees where he would represent Purdue’s undergraduate interests.
Upon graduation Frank has plans to attend a top-tier law school for his MBA and J.D. From there he wants to go into public service and seek an elected office at some point in his life.
