McMillan Newest Delta Delta Significant Sig

Larry McMillan '68

Lawrence G. McMillan '68 was recently named Delta Delta’s 42nd Significant Sig. Brother McMillan was recognized for his accomplishments as a professional trader, author and president of McMillan Analysis Corp.

When Larry learned of his selection he remarked, "I am certainly proud to accept this award. I am also humbled to accept it in light of the quality of the previous recipients, both at Delta Delta and throughout Sigma Chi. I feel fortunate to have become involved in 1973 in options which was a new segment of the financial industry. There’s nothing like being in the right place at the right time. I know that my experiences at Delta Delta with my brothers from the Class of ’68 have certainly served me well throughout my career."

Best Selling Financial Writer

Larry is the author of "Options As a Strategic Investment", the best-selling book on stock and index options strategies, which has sold over 250,000 copies. The fifth edition of this publication will be released in August 2012. In addition, he has written two other books, "McMillan On Options" and "Profit With Options".

Career Highlights

Prior to founding his own firm, McMillan Analysis Corporation in 1991, Larry was a proprietary trader at two major brokerage firms. He began his Wall Street career as the retail option strategist at Thomson McKinnon Securities, Inc., from 1976 to 1980, and then traded the firm's proprietary account beginning in 1980. From 1982 to 1989, he was a Senior Vice President in charge of the Equity Arbitrage Department before moving to Prudential-Bache Securities where he led the Proprietary Option Trading Department from 1989 to 1990.

National Recognition

Larry has been recognized as one of the industry’s top strategists and for his newsletters and books covering equity, index, and futures options with emphasis on strategy, not speculation. “The Option Strategist Newsletter” received the National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM) 2010 President’s Award for Excellence in Financial Newsletter Writing; Larry was the recipient of the prestigious Options Industry Council Sullivan Award in 2011 for his outstanding contributions to the growth and integrity of the U.S. options market; and he was inducted into the Trading Hall of Fame in 2001 for his accomplishments as an exceptional trader and educator and who has helped grow the industry through his dedication and commitment.

Life Outside Work

Larry, and his wife, Janet, currently make their home in Randolph, NJ, and have two children, Karen, who works with Larry, and Glen, a proprietary trader in Chicago, and six grandchildren. Larry and his family make it back to Indiana a few times a year to visit their summer home near South Bend and attend Purdue events. His hobbies are shooting pool (which he learned to do at Delta Delta), playing piano, and attending professional sports events (Yankees, Devils, Jets, plus Boilers and Chicago Bears when he gets the chance).
