This Bud's for You at 2015 Brotherhood Dinner

“This Bud’s for You”...A great group attended this year’s Brotherhood Dinner. Front and center is special guest Significant Sig Peter Kraemer, VP-Anheuser-Busch.

The 24th Annual Brotherhood Dinner was a Budweiser and Bud Light only event with Anheuser Busch Vice President of Supply, Peter Kraemer as this year’s special guest. A great crowd of alumni and brothers arrived at the Delta Delta chapter house to enjoy the brotherhood and be part of the evening’s festivities.

Large Alumni Turnout

With over 30 alumni in attendance, the undergrads had an opportunity to hear a wide variety of stories. Not only from the many Delta Delta brothers in attendance, but also Sig alumni from Hanover, Ball State, Indiana and Indiana State.

Special Guests and Updates

Chapter Advisor Jay Andrew took the lead and greeted our guests to Delta Delta. With the Great Hall set up as a large banquet hall, the over 90 brothers in attendance got to hear updates from House Corporation President Bart Burrell and Consul Max Long. Past Grand Consul Dick Hester also spoke about several of the General Fraternity’s current initiatives.

Kraemer Receives Significant Sig Award

The highlight of the evening was presenting the Significant Sig Award to Peter Kraemer ’88. As a fifth generation brewmaster, Pete has followed his passion and family heritage to lead one of the world’s largest brewing companies. As Vice President, Supply for Anheuser-Busch InBev, Pete Kraemer is responsible for all North American operations including 19 breweries in the United States and Canada. He also oversees vertical operations in hops growing, malting, rice milling, as well as lid, can and bottle manufacturing.

Dick Hester, on behalf of Sigma Chi Fraternity, presented Brother Kraemer’s award to him. Pete then spoke to the attentive audience about the role his pledge brothers had played in his life and how they continue to demonstrate to him the values of our Fraternity.

Beer Tinted Reflections

Brother Kraemer then spent some time reflecting on a number of beer related stories from both his younger days at Purdue and several from his years as a brewmaster at Anheuser-Busch. Not to be left out, Pete’s pledge brothers in attendance, Dan Rittman, James Blankenship, Jon Hodge, Chris Kurtz and Joe Garnett all spoke of special memories at Delta Delta and how proud they were of all that one of their PB’s had accomplished.

Very Proud To Be A Sigma Chi

As the evening closed with each alumni brother saying a few words, Jim Dora ’58, summed it up well when he said, “This is a special evening to be able to spend this time with so many brothers. After all the commitment of so many alumni to renovate the chapter house, I am very pleased to see how well it is being taken care of. I am very proud to be a Sigma Chi.”

We especially want to thank Alumni Relations chairman Frank Speek, the kitchen crew and cook, and all the undergraduates for putting on such a rewarding evening of Sigma Chi brotherhood
