Sigs Take in Brotherhood of Annual Delta Delta Luncheon

A great group of Delta Delta Sigs and their Sweethearts gathered for the annual SW Florida luncheon hosted by Eric Morgan ’95 at the Club at the Strand in Naples, Florida on February 12th. Forty guests enjoyed an outstanding meal and a chance to hear from several brothers and Purdue head volleyball coach Dave Shondell.
The Sigs and guests got started with a casual social gathering prior to being seated for lunch. Bernie Sergesketter ’58 took this opportunity to welcome everyone and thanked Eric Morgan ’95 and Gavin Philipps ’95 for their work in arranging for this event.
Bell Chapter Endowment Announced

68th Grand Consul and current Sigma Chi Foundation President Michael Greenberg (Illinois Weslyan) updated the group on the recent endeavor by Delta Delta to become an endowed Bell Chapter. To obtain this status a group of alumni contributed $1,000,000 to fund the endowment which provides ongoing leadership training and scholarships to the undergraduate chapter. Gavin Philipps, and a group of alumni, have already begun working with the chapter to determine what training programs will be held later this semester.
Guatemala Mission Trip Update
Pro Consul Hayden Garten and chapter Chaplain Nathan Blied updated the brothers and guests on the recent mission trip taken by 15 undergraduate Sigs and three alumni to Guatemala. The brothers spend time installing more efficient wood burning stoves and water purification systems in the homes of residents in the highlands of this country. The Sigs also spent time hiking up a volcano and swimming in a lake.
Purdue Volleyball Coach Recaps Outstanding Season

Special guest Purdue volleyball coach Dave Shondell enjoyed his time with the Sigs as he recapped the trials and successes of the past volleyball season where they made it to the Elite Eight and finished ranked 12th in the country. 2026 looks to be another outstanding season for the Boilers.
Sig Songs Ring Out
No Delta Delta event can conclude without Bernie leading the brothers in song. “My Name is Sigma Chi, Sir,” “A Sig I Am,” and the “Sweetheart of Sigma Chi” could be heard throughout the venue as the Sigs marched off to the golf course.
John Purdue Club Mollenkopf Event
A strong contingent of Sigs attended the JPC annual Mollenkopf get together of Purdue supporters living in the Naples area. The Boilermaker faithful heard from Purdue President Mung Chiang, Athletic Director Mike Bobinski, and Head Football Coach Barry Odom on the challenges of building a competitive team in the new world of NIL and the transfer portal. Mark Herrmann ’81held an entertaining interview with former Boilermaker and NFL running back Raheem Mostert before many in the group headed to the golf courses at the Club at the Strand.
