Bell Endowment Undergraduate Training Kicks Off
The first undergraduate Bell Endowment training event for the chapter was held on April 17 and 18. It was led by Brian Schultz ’96 and Gavin Philipps ’95 who solicited the help of other Delta Delta alums to conduct a “Mentoring and Networking” undergraduate training workshop.

Wes Dulin ’23, Hayden Garten ’28, Brian Schultz ’96, Matthew Marrano ’29, Jude Carsten ’28, Lucas Toppe ’28, Sam Stearns ’28, Preston Bunch ’28, Jackson Theobald ’29, Owen Smith ’28, Jack Gardzina ’28, Josh Zhang ’27, Ryan Williams ’28, Daniel Queroz ’28, Nick Belby ’28, Shemaya Magatti ’28, Steve Smith ’98 and Patrick Burke ’87.
One of the event’s attendees was Daniel Queroz ’28 who remarked following the completion of the two day program,
“My expectations were completely exceeded during my attendance at the Sigma Chi Delta Delta Bell Chapter programming event. I was introduced to the importance of maintaining transparent and honest relationships with mentors, both professionally and personally. One message from Sigma Chi alumnus Bryce Brumm particularly resonated with me as I continue searching for purpose and personal growth: “Would you hire yourself? Would you want to be around yourself?” That idea challenged me to reflect on whether I truly embody the traits, discipline, honesty, and character that I admire in others and hope to become myself. It made me realize that growth starts with accountability and self-awareness. You cannot expect to become the best version of yourself if you are not actively building the qualities and values you personally desire in your future.

Alumni and active brothers discuss mentoring opportunities.
According to Gavin Philipps ’95, “The brothers who attended were very dialed in and gave up a Friday night or an early Saturday to invest in themselves and the future of Delta Delta, which is what we want in order to develop our undergraduate brothers. Being with these young men really got me fired up about the future of our chapter.”
Mentoring and Career Networking
The mentoring and career sessions on Friday and Saturday sought to engage the undergrads around these two topics (based on their priorities); connect them to the Sigma Chi core values; and have a meaningful Bell Chapter kickoff event prior to the end of the semester.
Mentoring
The mentoring sessions focused on what it means to have someone make a positive impact on your life and how you can have the same impact on others. The brothers learned from each other as well as from successful Delta Delta brothers and their meaningful experiences. Wes Dulin ‘23, Steve Smith ‘98 and Brian Schultz ’96 were the alumni facilitators for this group.
Career Networking
This was the undergraduate brothers’ opportunity to learn from successful Delta Delta brothers who provided them with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they have learned through their own challenges and triumphs. Facilitating this group were Patrick Burke ‘87, Gavin Philipps ‘95, TJ Butler ‘96, and Bryce Brumm ’96.

Alumni Facilitators: Wes Dulin ‘23, Steve Smith ’98, Brian Schultz ’96, Bryce Brumm ’95, TJ Butler ’96, Patrick Burke ’87 and Gavin Philipps ’95.
Learning from the Best
The alumni and undergrads enjoyed food and beverages from Canes while networking and learning from Delta Delta alumni. The alumni were available to create relationships, connections, and support towards a fulfilling undergraduate experience and a career built upon Sigma Chi core values.
For the 2026-27 academic year, there will be five to seven Bell Chapter experiences around the theme of Leadership Journey. The experiences will include leadership development, alumni/undergraduate networking events, and additional relationship building and learning opportunities for all the Sigs.
Looking for More Alumni Engagement
Once the dates are finalized for upcoming training the information will be sent to our Delta Delta alumni network requesting their attendance and support.
