Delta Delta Hosts Local and Virtual 2021 Holiday Get Togethers
The Indianapolis Delta Delta Sigma Chi Holiday Get Together was held on December 7, 2021, after not being held in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. This year’s event was hosted by the MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill and Pub on Indy’s north side. Although the restaurant’s owners are two IU Sigs, House Corp President Tom Hall ’81 felt it was a nice holiday gesture to support our Sig brothers.
Great To See Everyone
The strong turnout was great to see as almost 30 brothers made an appearance. The desire to gather with Sigs, and just reconnect with others, was strong as everyone toasted to a better year and best wishes to everyone’s families. In attendance were brothers from every decade beginning with Tom Jenkins ’64 and Dave deHebreard ’69, to several in the ‘70’s, ‘80’s, ‘90’s and our younger brothers like CJ Johnson ’17 and Andrew Brown ‘09. The Class of ’77 had five members of their class join the fun and share in the holiday spirit.
With all the uncertainty and challenges that this ongoing pandemic has presented, it is great to have close friends who can always be counted on. Sharing the latest family news and talking Boilermaker sports just reminds all of us just how much our brotherhood means to each of us.
Virtual Gathering Also Held
For those brothers too far away to meet us in Indy, the second annual Zoom Virtual Delta Delta Get Together was held on December 14. A nice group of 20 brothers logged in from around the country ranging from Hawaii to Virginia Beach, and class years from 1949 to 2020.
Many of the brothers enjoyed this opportunity to “quiz” Consul Sam Spears ’24 about current Delta Delta holiday and chapter traditions. To hear stories from brothers from the ‘40’s, ’50’s, ‘60’s, ‘70’s and 2000’s made for great conversation. In the end we all toasted to the continued prosperity of our beloved fraternity.
