Sigs Gather in Florida for Annual Luncheon

We had another wonderful gathering of brothers and sweethearts on February 9th hosted by Eric Morgan ’95 at his Club at the Strand in Naples, FL.  The brothers present represented every decade from the fifties to the current one, as Delta Delta’s Consul and Pro Consul, David Kolssak ’25 and Carter Fernandez ’25, were also in attendance.

Chapter, Sigma Chi and Purdue Athletics Updates

We had some excellent presentations.  Gavin Philipps ‘95 spoke about the Delta Delta Revitalization Program that he is leading with about 20 other Delta Delta alumni.  It includes working with the University and other Fraternities and Sororities at Purdue on critical issues facing today’s college youth.  Consul David Kolssak ‘25 joined Gavin for the Q&A at the end of the presentation.

Sam Smith, Director of Development for the Sigma Chi Foundation, spoke about the international environment for Sigma Chi and the Greek system.  He indicated that many universities recognize the importance of having a strong Greek system on their campuses.  Sigma Chi Fraternity has the most chapters (231) and second most members of any Fraternity.

Jeff McKean ’86, President and CEO of the Boilermaker Alliance, spoke about the work he and others are doing to support Purdue athletics with a long term, sustainable “Name, Image and Likeness” program.  As a separate entity from Purdue University, the Boilermaker Alliance’s mission is to raise funds to be used to support the athletic department’s NIL needs.  Jeff also spoke about the importance of providing leadership training to the athletes and how Sigma Chi’s leadership training programming can be utilized to do this.

Mark Herrmann, Director of Leadership for the John Purdue Club, gave an excellent overview of what’s going on with Purdue athletics and the Ross Ade stadium renovations.
