Alumni Support Key To Derby Days Success

Derby Days 2023

Jousting for a cause!

Led by Reid Brenton’25 and Sam Spears ‘23 the chapter put on a fun and successful Derby Days fundraiser from April 10-14.  Events were held at the house and on campus throughout the week. These included a dodgeball tournament, tug of war competition, talent show, trivia contest, and a field day featuring an inflatable joust, dunk tank, and other field events.

Coin wars and banner wars competitions were also held. Coin Wars encourages sororities to donate change and cash to compete for points throughout the week. In the Banner Wars competition sororities create and display Derby Days signs, further highlighting the event throughout campus.

Purdue Sororities Take the Challenge

Ten sororities took part this year which was two more than last year. Each sorority is assigned 2-4 brothers to coach each team and encourage them to have fun and to instill a little competitive spirit. At the end of the week, Delta Zeta won an extremely close competition narrowly beating out Zeta Tau Alpha and Alpha Chi Omega.

$54K Raised to Fight Cancer

The sororities, brothers and their families, local businesses and alumni raised $27,000 in support of cancer research. With a corporate match by Owen Sackmaster ‘21 through Grainger, our total donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute reached a total of $54,000.  Overall, the international fraternity will raise over $2.5M for HCI in 2023.
