Performed for Presidents

Under directors like Al Stewart, the Glee Club gained national acclaim with performance for U.S. presidents and global dignitaries. Today, it continues to showcase Purdue’s talent through worldwide tours, maintaining its legacy as the university’s ambassadors of song.

Led today by directors William Griffel and Scott Hines, the Glee Club comprises dedicated students from various academic disciplines, who balance rigorous studies with a commitment to musical excellence and community service.

Glee Club Shows Appreciation

The Glee Club made a trip in mid-March to Southwest Florida where they gave five concerts.  Bill Frey ’62 arranged with the Director of the Glee Club, Bill Griffel, for one of their concerts to be held on the evening of March 20 at Bill’s church, Naples United Church of Christ.  Joining Bill at the performance were Bernie Sergesketter ’58, Bill Canfield ’61, Bill Morris ’63 and Ron Karns, ’64.  At the end of the concert, Director Griffel presented Bill with a framed photograph autographed by the members of the Glee Club.

Brother Frey has sponsored the Glee Club on several of their visits to Florida. Bill remarked, “Each time they perform they are a great gift from Purdue. As you know Purdue has no music school. The kids receive no college credit. They are true ambassadors for the university”.
