Award Recognizes Contributions to Greek Community

The Distinguished Service Award recognizes community members for their exceptional and long-standing commitment to the FSCL community at Purdue. Recipients have, through their time, talent, and treasure bettered Purdue and left a lasting legacy for its FSCL members. Cutler added, “Clearly, Keith’s leadership and service to the Legacy Initiative has been exceptional and the additional service to Sigma Chi over the years led to this recognition.”

Keith remarked, “Wow, absolutely surprised, honored and humbled at the same time, thank you so much!”

FSCL Legacy Initiative

The FSCL Legacy Initiative began in 2023 when Keith began working with Brandon Cutler and the FSCL (Fraternity, Sorority, Co Op Life) leadership. The program seeks to support FSCL students who are facing new norms upon entering the University, especially in the areas of mental health and overall loneliness, which according to Cutler has led to bad decisions, loss of direction, and struggling with their academics.

Keith started by contacting former IFC/Panhel Board members from the 90’s and asked if they’d be interested in participating.  Those who responded included two Sigs, Steve Boyce ‘98 and James Cole ‘98. This group of advisors meets monthly with Purdue FSCL leadership. The purpose is to provide opportunities for alumni to support the current student body, primarily through mentorship at the chapter levels.

Hi Keith,
Just wanted to high-five you for receiving the Distinguished Service Award from Purdue. What you are doing is really important, and it is nice to see a Sig in the forefront of it.

Always in hoc,
Bernie
